Lionheads are not yet officially recognized by ARBA, though many shows allow them to shown as an exhibition breed. The tort variety did pass its first certificate to becoming official in Novenber 2005, by Arden Wetzel, but then failed the next two presentations. Currently, Lionheads of any variety can be shown as long as the Standard and a Color Standard are provided to the judge.
The next certificated holder is Gail Gibbon's from Cimmaron. Her COD colors are Chestnut, REW, Sable Point, Siamese Sable and Tort-black. She and her rabbits will take center stage in Louisville, KY in October 2008. The rabbits need to pass three presentations to become a recognized breed with ARBA.
If Gail fails to get them passed then we move on to the next certificate holder, Theresa Mueller. Her COD colors are Black, Blue, Chestnut, REW and Tort-Black. After her is Dawn Guth who has the following colors on her COD: Black, Pointed White ( all 4 colors), REW, Siamese Sable and Smoke Pearl. Lastly, Lynn Schultz has a COD for: Blue Point, Chestnut, Orange, Sable Point and Tort-Blue. So all the above mentioned colors are considered "Showable Colors". There are now 12 COD showable colors. Remember to contact each show secretary to see if they will be judging Lionheads. And remember to provide a current Working Standard with the color descriptions of the rabbits you wish to show to the judge.
